Korean Ties

Photo from my flickr account

If you look closely, you can see that some of the ties are wearing necklaces!

I have been thinking about the "tie necklaces" and have concluded that your father left a gap in your education. I believe the correct name is a tie tac and the chain (necklace) is connected to a little cross bar that goes through a button hole in the shirt to hold the tie in place...say in a high wind or when bending over to examine something. Since your father rarely wears a tie, you might not have noticed that these are sometimes worn by older or VERY classy men in many countries./Mom
